1. Read about three situations facing teenagers. Match them with the problems a, b, or c in the box below. (Hăy đọc ba tình huống các thanh thiếu niên đang gặp phải và hãy ghép chúng với những vấn đề a. b, hay c cho trong ô bên dưới.)

1. Tôi không thấy vui vì bố mẹ tôi đặt ra một giờ để tôi phải về nhà vào buổi tối. Bố mẹ muốn tôi có mặt ở nhà lúc 9 giờ tối. Giá mà bố mẹ cho phép tôi ra ngoài về muộn hơn, 9 giờ 30 hay 10 giờ chẳng hạn. vì vậy mà tôi có thể có thêm thời gian với bạn bè. Tôi đă xin bố mẹ nhiều lần nhưng họ vẫn không thay đổi ý định. Tôi phải làm gì bây giờ?
2. Bố mẹ tôi không thích một số bạn bè của tôi chỉ vì vẻ bề ngoài của họ. Họ nhuộm tóc nhiều màu khác nhau và xâu lỗ mũi. Tuy vậy những người bạn này của tôi đều là học sinh giỏi và luôn giúp đỡ người khác, tốt với tôi và những bạn cùng lớp. Giá mà bố mẹ tôi đừng đánh giá họ qua vẻ bề ngoài, nhưng tôi biết họ rõ hơn. Tôi phải làm gì bây giờ?
3. Bố mẹ tôi thường phàn nàn rằng tôi chẳng giúp gì mấy trong việc nhà. Bố mẹ nghĩ rằng tôi không có trách nhiệm. Mỗi khi có dịp tôi thật sự cố gắng hết sức. Nhưng tôi quá bận rộn với quá nhiều bài vở và các hoạt động ngoại khóa nên tôi thật là khó thu xếp thời gian cho bất cứ việc gì khác. Tôi phải làm gì bây giờ?

Học sinh A: Mình nghĩ là bạn nên nói với mẹ bạn và giải thích cho mẹ biết bạn nghĩ thế nào. Bạn cũng nên cho mẹ bạn thấy ràng bạn là người có trách nhiệm và cùng đã trưởng thành rồi.
Học sinh B: Cám ơn bạn. Mình sẽ thử. Còn bạn với bố mẹ bạn thì sao?
Học sinh A: Bố mình lúc nào cùng so sánh mình với Lan. cô bạn sống ở nhà bên cạnh. Bố mình nói Lan chăm chỉ hơn mình và còn giúp bố mẹ bạn ấy làm việc nhà.
Học sinh B: Có lẽ bạn nên kết bạn với Lan nếu bố mẹ bạn thích cô ấy.

Tom: You look upset, Linda. What’s the matter?
Linda: Nothing serious. Just mv parents keep complaining about my clothes.
Tom: Why don’t they like them?
Linda: They think my trousers are too skinny and my tops are too tight. They don’t like my sparkling clothes or high heels. They want me to wear more casual stuff such as jeans and T- shirts.
Tom: Well, it depends on where you’re going. If you’re going to a party, you could dress up, but 1 don’t think you should wear flashy clothes every day.
Linda: But I really want to look more elegant and fashionable.
Tom: Well, have you thought about the cost? Perhaps your parents can’t afford to buy expensive clothes.
Linda: Maybe you’re right. What about you? Do you get into conflict with your parents?
Tom: Not really. But they forbid me to play computer games.
Linda: Sounds bad. What’s wrong with computer games?
Tom: They think ail computer games are useless. They want me to use my computer for more useful stuff.
Linda: But there are some positive benefits of playing computer sanies.
Tom: Yes, there arc. I can read faster because I can concentrate more. Playing computer games after school also helps me to relax after a hard day.
Linda: But your parents may worrv about your eyesight if you look at the computer screen for a long time.
Tom: Yes. they probably worry about it, and want me to have a healthier lifestyle with more outdoor activities.
Linda: That’s right, I think you need to tell your parents that you atiree with them, and explain the benefits of computer games
Tom: That’s a good idea. I hope my parents understand that. Thank you.

4. They warn me not to smoke or take drugs.

1. One important rule in my family is that I have to take my studies seriously. My parents are workers. They don’t have chance to study much so they want me to have a better education than them. Studying is the most important task to me.
2. Another important rule in my family is that I have to respect the elderly. Respecting the elderly not only shows that you are well educated but also you are mature. I always respect this rule because I think it’s really important in my life.
3. The third important rule in my family is that I need to help around with the housework and other home duties. Helping parents is a good way to show that I am responsible and I love my parents. This make my parents happier after a hardworking day.

I’m very happy to know that you’ll be staying with mv family for two months. We live in a four-bedroom flat on the 15th floor. You will have your own bedroom for your stay here.
You asked me about our family rules. There arc three important ones that we must follow.
One important rule in my family is that every member of the family has to keep his or her own room tidy. My brother and I have to make our beds every morning, and clean the floor and windows twice a week.
Another important rule is that my brother and I must be home before 10 p.m. My parents are very strict and believe that setting a curfew will help us becomc responsible, and stay sale and healthy.
The third important rule is that wc mustn’t invite friends to stay overnight. This is not only our family rule, but also the rule for ail people living in the building.
