Read the passage carefully, then decide whether the following statement are true (T) or false (F)
The proverb ‘A friend in need is a friend indeed.’ means that we shall know who our real friends are when we are in need. Those who desert us when we are in difficulty are just unfaithful friends.
A true friend would remain with us whether we are rich or poor. Some people be friend the rich, simply for the sake of getting benefits from them.
It is useless to have insincere friends because these friends remain with us as long as we are rich or powerful. It is better to have one or two good friends rather than having hundreds of insincere ones.

Tôi xuất thân từ một gia đình có năm người: cha mẹ, hai em trai tôi và tôi. Mẹ tôi làm (việc như một) y tá ở một bệnh viện lớn. Bà phải làm việc nhiều giờ và mỗi tuần một lần, bà phải làm ca đêm. Cha tôi là một nhà sinh vật học. Ông ấy làm việc từ 8 giờ sáng đến 5 giờ chiều ở một phòng thí nghiệm, nhưng đôi khi có một dự án ông không về nà mã cho đến rất khuya. Mặc dù cha mẹ tôi rất bận trong công việc, họ cố gắng dành càng nhiều thời gian cho con cái càng tốt. Nười ta thường tin rằng ” đàn ông xầy nhà, đàn bà xây tổ ấm” nhưng ờ gia đình tôi, cả hai cha mẹ cùng chung sức cho chúng tôi một mái nhà xinh và một tổ ấm hạnh phúc.
Mẹ tôi là một phụ nữ rất tận tụy. Bà đảm trách việc quán xuyến gia đình. Bà luôn là người đầu tiên thức dậy sớm vào buổi sáng để đảm bảo chúng tôi rời nhà đến trường với bữa điểm tâm và quần áo phù hợp. Vào buổi trưa, sau khi rời bệnh viện, bà vội đến chơn, và sau đó hối hả về nhà để bữa tối sẵn sàng trên bàn trước khi cha về đến nhà. Cha luôn sẵn sáng giúp lau nhà. Không giống đa số đàn ông, cha thích thú việc nấu ăn. Đôi khi vào ngày cuối tuần, ông nấu cho chúng tôi những món ăn đặc biệt. Món canh lươn của ông ngon hơn bất kì món cánh khác tôi đã từng ăn.
Vì hiện nay tôi đang học năm cuối của trường phổ thông trung học, và cố gắng thi đâu một trường đại học (chiếm một chỗ ở đại học), tôi chịu áp lực việc học rất nhiều. Tuy nhiên, vì là con cả và con gái duy nhât trong gia đình, tôi cố gắng giúp công việc lặt vặt trong nhà. Nhiệm vụ chính của tôi là rửa chén và đổ rác. Tôi cũng chăm sóc các em trai, chúng đôi khi hiếu động và nghịch ngợm, nhưng đa số thời gian chúng khá vâng lời và siêng năng. Chúng thích phụ cha tôi trong việc sửa đồ vật quanh nhà vào những ngày cuối tuần.

The family in the text is larger than mine. There are four us altogether: my parents, my sister and I.
Unlike the family in the text, only my father goes to work: hes a teacher in a secondary school in the city. My mother’s a housewife. My sister is married and working in a blank. She has’nt had a child yet. My sister’s family lives in the same district as my family.
My mother is a devoted wife. She always takes good care of everybody in the family. Never does she ger up after five a.m to prepare breakfast for dad and me. My father is a great husband. He always keeps an good eye on the family. In his spare time, he gives a hand with household chores. He is my great suppoer and guide in my study.
Since I’m in the final year and under the study pressure, my parents let me have a lot of time for my schooling. Despote this, I realize my reponsibility to help my parents with the chores: I sweep the floor, sometimes wash dishes and take out the garbage.

Lan’s talk
My best friend is Ha. We’ve been friends for a long time. We used to live in Nguyen Cong Tru Residential Area in Hanoi. Her family moved to Hai Phong in 1985. It is said that Hai Phong people are cold, but Ha is really, really friendly. I first started to get to know her when I was going on a two-day trip to Do Son last year and I didn’t know anybody there. I gave Ha a ring and she was so friendly, she said, “Oh, I’ll come to visit you.” So she rode on her motorbike to Do Son and twenty minutes later she was there. She stayed with me for two days. She happened to know a lot of people there, so she introduced me around, and we’ve been best friends ever since.
Long’s talk
My best friend is Minh. We met in college. I was there singing and Minh was a guitarist. So we worked together a lot. Minh has a great sense of humour, he’s very very funny, and that’s one of my favourite things about him. And over the years, we have been through good times and bad times with each other, and that’s one of the things I like best about him. And we have a lot of the same interests. We like to go to plays and movies together. But when we’re going through a rough time, he’s really a good friend, and he’s a very good listener, and he always helped me through.

Chuyện của Lan
Người bạn thân nhất của mình là Hà. Chúng mình là bạn đã lâu lắm rồi. Trước đây chúng mình cùng sống ở khu dân cư Nguyễn Công Trứ, Hà Nội. Gia đình bạn ấy chuyển đến Hải Phòng năm 1985. Người ta nói rằng người Hải Phòng rất lạnh lùng, nhưng Hà thực sự rất thân thiện. Mình quen Hà khi mình đi du lịch Đồ Sơn hai năm trước và mình không quen ai ở đó cả. Mình đã điện thoại cho Hà và Hà tỏ ra rất thân thiện, bạn ấy nói: “Ồ, mình sẽ đến thăm bạn.” Thế là bạn ấy lái xe máy đến Đồ Sơn và 20 phút sau bạn ấy đã có mặt. Bạn ấy ở lại với mình hai ngày. Bạn ấy biết rất nhiều người ở đó, vì thế bạn ấy đã giới thiệu mình với mọi người và chúng mình đã trở nên thân thiết từ đó.
Chuyện của Long
Người bạn thân nhất của mình là Minh. Chúng mình gặp nhau ở đại học. Mình học hát và Minh là một tay guitar. Vì vậy, chúng mình làm việc cùng nhau rất nhiều. Minh có óc hài hước, bạn ấy rất vui vẻ và đó là một trong những điều làm mình thích bạn ấy. Trải qua nhiều năm, chúng mình cùng nhau chia sẻ niềm vui nỗi buồn và đó là điều mình thích nhất về anh ấy. Chúng mình có chung nhiều sở thích. Chúng mình thích cùng nhau đi xem kịch và xem phim. Khi chúng mình trải qua khoảng thời gian khó khăn, bạn ấy thực sự là một người bạn tốt, và là một người biết lắng nghe, luôn giúp mình vượt qua khó khăn.
